It is a system for health care which prescribes the lifestyle to be adopted to maintain perfect balance  in the human life. Ayurveda works on the theory that life represents coordination of the Soul (Atma), Mind (Mana), Senses (Indriya) and Body (Sharir) and they revolves around the five elements that go into the making of the Prakriti.

Ayurveda introduces healing therapies along with various methods of purification and rejuvenation. Ayurveda is a scince and art of living which helps in longevity of life. It guides us through the home remedies and natural remedies available in the prevention of disease. Ayuveda has chnged the thinking of modern science through its therapies. Therefore Ayurveda is a form of healthy living.

Yoga refers to traditional physical and mental disciplines originating in India. The word is associated with meditative practices in Hinduism, Buddhismand Jainism. In Hinduism, it also refers to one of the six orthodox (āstika) schools ofHindu philosophy, and to the goal toward which that school directs its practices. In Jainism it refers to the sum total of all activities-mental, verbal and physical.

It is found that man is the best teacher of himself through his own personal experience. Therefore it is recommended that he enjoys his freedom of food and set his own limitations. Moreover a number of factors play a role in the properselection of one’s individual diet. They are age, size, weight, habits, tastes, metabolism, climate, availability, resources, occupation, lifestyle, physical activities and social customs. For example, a human being should change his diet according to his growing age keeping in mind his medical history and his circumstances. Therefore Yoga is a form of healthy living

Homeopathy works much beyond vaccination. The dose given during this treatment is in minute quantity but is is very powerful and harmless.Unlike the conventional medicine, the effect of homeopathy is deeper, safe  and the effect is long lasting by energizing the body’s curative powers. The effect of homeopathy might be slow but better than armful antibiotics.

Homeopathy is the latest and upcoming medicine system which should be properly promoted and recognised. There are theories on how exactly homeopathic medicine works. In the clinical trials and in practice, it is found that homeopathy stimulates body’s own healing mechanisms.

For example, in case of diseases which are caused by infection, it seems to be working by stimulating the production of antibodies, defense blood cells, etc.It helps in repairing the immune system in case of immune disease and also activates body’s anti pain mechanism if a patient is feeling pain. The action of homeopathy is on the lines of anti allergic, anti flammatory, harmone stimulatory and antispasmodic.

Large scale studies alone will allow full exploration of this young science which will boast tremendous powers as a system of medicine. Therefore homeopathy is a form of healthy living

Panchakarma As the name suggests, Pancha in Sanskrit stands for Five and Karma are the therapeutic measures, therefore Panchakarma means five types of therapeutic measures. These are undertaken for the purification of the body and Ayurveda considers it necessary before the start of any other therapy. The logic being that as a cloth needs to be purified or cleaned of impurities and dust before it can be permeated with a new color, similarly the body needs to be purified before it can be permeated with new colors of youthfulness, health and vigor etc. In fact, most of the time, Panchakarma is an end in itself rather than a prelude to other therapeutic measures.

The Panchakarma therapy of Ayurveda is comprised of five basic types of advanced treatment for the evacuation of vitiated Dosha (toxic materials) from the body. One can consider this as a body de-tox program. There are so many subtypes of this therapy and different types of herbal massages, fomentation’s such as steam, external oil treatments, Basti (medicated enemas), Virechana (purgation through herbs), Vamana (emesis through herbs), Nasya (nasal administration of oils) etc. are also incorporated. These practices are extremely helpful in relieving deep seated diseases as well as being beneficial for maintaining and improving physical and mental health. Therefore Panchkarma is a form of healthy living

Meditation is an intensely personal and spiritual experience. The desired purpose of each meditation technique is to channel our awareness into a more positive direction by totally transforming one’s state of mind. To meditate is to turn inwards, to concentrate on the inner self. The entire process of meditation usually entails the three stages of concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana) and enlightenment or absorption (samadhi). The individual preparing to meditate usually starts off by harnessing his awareness, such as focussing his mind onto a certain object. Once attention gets engaged, concentration turns into meditation or dhyana. And through continuous meditation, the meditator merges with the object of concentration, which might either be the present moment or the Divine Entity. In some branches of Indian philosopohy, direct perception from the inner self (mana) together with perception that is filtered through the five senses (pancha indriya) form a part of their valid epistemology (pratyaksha jnana).

Meditation is not necessarily a religious practice, but because of its spiritual element it forms an integral part of most religions. And even though the basic objective of most meditation styles remain the same and are performed in a state of inner and outer stillness, they all vary according to the specific religious framework within which they are placed. Preparation, posture, length of period of meditation, particular verbal or visual elements—all contribute to the various forms of meditation. Some of the more popular methods are, Transcendental Meditation, yoga nidra, vipassana and mindfulness meditation. Therefore Meditation is a form of healthy living.

Acupuncture is like a family of procedures which involves the stimulation of anatomical points on the body using a variety of techniques. The acupuncture technique involves penetrating the skin with  needles which is performed by a professional manually or by electronically .

Acupuncture has been Practicing  in China and other parts of World. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the body is seen as a balance of two opposing and inseparable forces:yin and yang.Yin represents cold, slow, or passive aspects of the person, while yang represents hot, excited, or active aspects. A major theory is that health is achieved through balancing yin and yang and disease is caused by an imbalance. The person’s spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical health is influenced by the opposing forces of yin and yang.Various Diseases can be cured by using acupuncture at certain points on the body that connect with these meridians. Sources vary on the number of meridians, with numbers ranging from 14 to 20. One commonly cited source describes meridians as 14 main channels “connecting the body in a weblike interconnecting matrix” of at least 2,000 acupuncture points. Therefore Acupuncture is a form of healthy living.

Acupressure is a ancient healing system which uses the fingers and other parts of the body to press key points, which  in turn stimulate the body’s natural abilities of curing itself. When these points are pressed, they promote circulation of blood by releasing muscular tension. Thease pressure points are used in both Acupressure and Acupuncture but the difference is that acupunture uses needles while acupressure use gentle and firm pressure, massage techniques, healing imagery, energy psychilogy and other body therapies.

Acupressure helps in relieving pain, balancing the body and maintaining good health.Acupressure’s healing touch reduces tension, increases circulation, and enables the body to relax deeply. By relieving stress, acupressure therapy strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness. Learn self-acupressure point formulas for various energy imbalances and healing applications. Therefore Acupressure is a form of healthy living.

Massage can be defined to be a kind of a passive exercise, involving the use of oils and herbal lotions to rejuvenate the body cells. It is a key to good health if practiced on regular basis. Massage helps opening up the skin pores and even removing the dead cells from the body, allowing the skin to feel fresh and comfortable.

Massage oil or lotion must b chosen very wisely, according to the season and body requirements. Ayurveda considers Sesame oil to be fit for a massage on the body all the year long. In winters a massage with mustard oil is also recommended. Using mustard oil in summers is not prescribed generally, but to only those people who have regularly been using mustard oil for massages.
